Day 2 — The Power of Practice, Purpose, and Possibility
Day 2 of the MISSION POSSIBLE Youth Social Hackathon: Philippines Edition began with the steady clicks of keyboards, quick sketches, and bursts of laughter inside the Hacking Room at Assumption Antipolo.
The inspiration from yesterday’s five changemakers was still strongly felt, and every team came ready to turn their ideas into action: testing, refining, and preparing to pitch their solutions on the final day.
Every corner of the room told its own story: tables covered in sticky notes, laptops and tablets glowing with slide decks, students clustered in quiet corners debating designs or perfecting their storytelling. Some rehearsed their timing, others revised their prototypes. It wasn’t just about winning, it was about building something real, something that could create change for the better.
And no idea was fueled on an empty stomach. Throughout the day, the Hacking Room buzzed with the smell of coffee, cookies, and the sound of popcorn popping, because every bold dreamer needs good brain food.
Six Pitching Coaches Who Empowered Change
Mid-day, the atmosphere shifted from brainstorming to coaching. Six passionate pitching coaches stepped in guiding, challenging, and inspiring each team to find clarity, confidence, and heart in their presentation.
Coach Maye R. Padilla reminded students that clarity begins with purpose:
““Kumapit sa iyong bakit.”
(Hold on to your why).
Coach Rachelle Jenine Abuel encouraged the youth to believe in their ideas and trust the process:
“You just have to believe it. And if you believe it that much, you will go miles and miles beyond.”
Coach TJ Malvar grounded everyone in the long view of transformation:
“This is a lifelong journey of becoming changemakers. It’s up to you to turn these impossibilities into possibilities.”
Coach Kit Malvar-Llamas invited the teams to embrace joy in practice and progress:
“When you practice, have fun and laugh at your mistakes. Start from where you are and build on that dream.”
Coach Johanna Diwa-Acallar sparked courage and vision for sustainability:
““As long as you have courage in your heart to make that sustainable future.”
And Coach Kharen Limfueco Pascual closed with a reminder that pitching is not about persuasion, but about connection:
“Remember that it is not about convincing them, it is about connecting with them.”
Together, these six mentors didn’t just coach. They ignited confidence, empathy, and purpose. Their presence turned the Hacking Room into a living classroom of creativity, courage, and collaboration.
A Night of Focus, Hope, and Possibility
As daylight faded into the Antipolo skyline, the Hacking Room remained alive with quiet determination. Some teams rehearsed one last time, while others whispered words of encouragement before heading to rest or a sleepless night.
This wasn’t just another school project, it was a day of courage, creativity, and connection. A day of failing fast, learning faster, and lifting each other higher.
Now, with hearts full and slides polished, our youth changemakers stand ready to take the stage tomorrow. Ready to take the synodal path to tell their stories, share their solutions, and make their voices heard.
