Coach TJ Malvar
Primary health care innovator | Nature advocate | Educator

Alberto Teodoro “TJ” Malvar brings together a unique blend of expertise in health systems, community well-being, and nature-based healing to the MISSION POSSIBLE Youth Social Hackathon: Philippines Edition.

As the Program Director of the Dr. Rosita G. Leong Primary Health Care Hub (RGL Hub) and faculty member at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, TJ is deeply involved in rethinking how health care can be made more accessible, inclusive, and human-centered. His work focuses on primary health care systems that reach underserved populations, ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey to well-being.

Beyond academia, TJ is currently building Pilgrim Health, a health startup that seeks to transform access to care for blue-collar workers. Rooted in the belief that every worker deserves dignified and responsive health services, Pilgrim Health is his bold response to systemic challenges in the Philippine health system.

But TJ’s passion for healing goes beyond clinics and policy. In 2021, he founded Forest Bathing MNL, an initiative that encourages people to reconnect with nature as a form of restoration and resilience. As a certified forest bathing guide, he promotes eco-wellness practices that balance modern living with mindfulness and ecological harmony.

TJ’s interdisciplinary approach: spanning public health, social entrepreneurship, and ecological wellbeing, makes him a distinctive voice in youth mentorship. He challenges the next generation to rethink what it means to build healthier communities, not just through data and systems, but through empathy, equity, and connection.

At the MISSION POSSIBLE Youth Social Hackathon: Philippines Edition (October 24–26, 2025), Coach TJ will guide young changemakers in pitching ideas that support human well-being from all angles: mind, body, community, and environment.
